Programme Overview

The Commonwealth of Dominica hosts one of the longest-running, most reliable, and highly decorated Citizenship-by-Investment Programmes globally, established in 1993. Formally embedded within the nation's constitution and Citizenship Act, this programme allows qualified global investors to acquire full, irrevocable citizenship through a targeted economic contribution. Commonly referred to as the 'Nature Island' of the Caribbean, Dominica is highly regarded for its uncompromising regulatory frameworks and sophisticated multi-tiered due diligence. For clients of Burbridge Capital, Dominica represents a highly efficient mechanism to achieve extensive global mobility, permanent tax optimisation, and a robust generational safety net without any physical relocation requirements.

The Process

How Burbridge Capital
manages your application

1
Confidential Profile Vetting
Burbridge Capital conducts a mandatory pre-screening of your background and source of funds. Once cleared, we formalise our engagement and issue your custom document dossier checklist.
2
Comprehensive File Compilation
Our specialised legal team assists in compiling all required civil documents, medical certifications, banking references, and official government application forms. All foreign-language documentation is professionally translated, notarised, and apostilled.
3
Formal Submission & Strict Vetting
The complete file is securely submitted to the Dominica Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU). Statutory due diligence fees, processing fees, and mandatory interview fees are settled. Independent international intelligence agencies initiate deep background vetting.
4
Mandatory Virtual Interview
All applicants aged 16 and above are required to attend a brief, highly confidential virtual interview with government-appointed compliance officers to verify application details.
5
Approval-in-Principle & Capital Deployment
Upon successful vetting, the CBIU issues a formal Approval-in-Principle. The applicant deploys their capital — executing the EDF donation or completing the real estate escrow funding — along with applicable government fees.
6
Citizenship Registration & Passport Handover
Upon confirmation of the capital transfer, the Certificate of Naturalisation is formally issued. Your biometric passport is printed and securely dispatched to Burbridge Capital for private hand-delivery to your preferred location.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the secondary government fees required if I choose the Real Estate route?+
In addition to the minimum USD 200,000 property investment, the government applies a standard flat government fee. For a single applicant, this fee is USD 75,000. For a main applicant applying with up to three dependants (such as a spouse and two children), the flat government fee is USD 100,000.
Are there any restrictions on changing my name after acquiring Dominican citizenship?+
Yes. In order to preserve the global integrity of its passport, Dominica has strict regulations regarding name changes. Under current legislation, citizens who obtained nationality via the CBI program are legally prohibited from changing their name within five years of their naturalization date, except under specific circumstances such as marriage.
Does the property investment require me to open a local bank account or manage tenants?+
No, you do not need to open a local bank account in Dominica or manage day-to-day property operations. The approved real estate projects are entirely structured as fully managed hospitality investments. The resort operators handle all maintenance, leasing, and operations, distributing potential net rental returns directly to your designated international bank account.
How long is the Dominica passport valid for, and what is the renewal process?+
The Certificate of Naturalization is a permanent document that reflects lifetime citizenship and never expires. The passport itself is a travel document valid for 10 years for adults, and 5 years for children under the age of 16. Passports can be renewed seamlessly through the consulate or directly via Burbridge Capital without a requirement to travel to the island.
Are citizens of certain nationalities restricted from applying for Dominica CBI?+
Yes, Dominica maintains strict geopolitical compliance. Currently, applications from nationals of Russia, Belarus, northern Iraq, Yemen, and North Korea are restricted. Additionally, applicants from Iran and Sudan are generally restricted unless they can prove they have lived, worked, or held legal residency outside these countries for a significant, consecutive multi-year period and have no assets within them.
Can I include an adult sibling or a child from a previous marriage in my application?+
Biological or legally adopted children of the main applicant or spouse aged 18 to 30 can be included, provided they are enrolled in full-time higher education and are substantially supported by the main applicant. Sibling dependants cannot be included directly in a standard application; however, unmarried dependent daughters under 24 who live with the applicant can qualify.
